This unique International Toastmasters Club with an Irish flavour allows you to master communication and leadership skills in a constructive, relaxed, and fun environment.

You will become a highly regarded speaker at home, work, school, and for any other occasion.

Everyone in a Toastmasters meeting was once at the level you are now. The environment is friendly and supportive, and the self-paced programme allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment.

  • A typical club has between 20 to 40 members who meet either weekly, biweekly or monthly. A meeting normally lasts around 90- 120 minutes.
  • There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations, pointing out the strengths and suggesting improvements. This feedback process is a key part of the program’s success. Members also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop their leadership skills.
  • Members learn communication skills by working through manuals such as the Competent Communication manual, a series of 10 self-paced speaking assignments designed to instill a basic foundation in public speaking. There are then 15 Advanced Communications manuals to choose from, covering areas from humorous speaking to Speeches by Management.

One thing that you'll love at Toastmasters meetings is the applause. At first you'll be applauded for your effort; later you'll be applauded for your skill.

Claddagh getting restarted on EasySpeak

We are just starting on EasySpeak and there is a lot to do. There are many advantages to using EasySpeak, not only for managing our own club, but in order to see what the rest of Continental Europe's clubs are up to - or to easily visit them if you want to.

Meeting Agendas have been set up - only in English for the time being: maybe in the near future we will be able to make them bilingual (as the Blackforest Toastmasters club has done).  But we have to start someplace!

There are a number of things you should all do when you start to use EasySpeak:

  1. Request speeches.  (under the 'My Participation' Menu).  This is very important because if you don't do it, the meeting manager (or VP Education) can't a speech to you.  Don't worry about past speeches you have done in the past - just request the next speeches you want to do (you don't need to name them at this stage)
  2. You should also take the time to update your Competent Leadership progress chart (also under the My Participation).  THen in future as you do a role like Timer, it can automatically update your CL status - bringing you ever closer to being a Competent Leader (or Distinguished Toastmaster, as the case may be)
  3. Accept attendance at lots of meetings.  You can see (and sign on for) all the forthcoming meetings under the "Meetings" menu item.
Hope to see you all at the next meeting
