Home  (Northern Stars)

Northern Stars is the only advanced club in Finland. To become a member, you need to hold the title of Toastmasters competent communicator (CC), have performed at least 8 out of 10 speeches from your CC manual, or have completed Pathways Level 2. However, you are always most welcome as a guest at our meetings that usually take place the second Saturday of each month. It is certainly the best way for you to know if this club can support your aspirations: Please visit us!

Being an advanced club also means that we fearlessly challenge ourselves. To manage this
excellence level, we cherish ourselves with each other’s feedback, hold debate sessions and focus
on mentoring. We also try to have a guest speaker in every meeting.

Our strengths are our diversity and our taste for achievement. Citius, Altius, Fortius!

We hope to see you soon!

Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.

Happy New Year 2020!

This Toastmasters year is in it’s halfway: six meetings gone and six to have. In the beginning of the year we had some goals, some of them we’ve already reached some of them still to be finalized.

  1. We wanted to offer our members additional opportunity for practicing for TED Talks or keynote by allowing them to give longer speeches than indicated in in Pathways or in the advanced manuals.
  2. We wanted to encourage meetings with special themes and general interest: we had a panel discussion how to speak to the media.
  3. We wanted to know what you want and Kirsi contacted you in order to design the agenda according to the needs.
  4. In addition, we set a goal to be number 1 in our Division in terms of membership renewals paid for the whole year. GOAL achieved!

We have reached one goal of Distinguished Club Program and next two are about to be achieved:
1 more member and we’ll reach 4 more members goal!
4 Club officers attending the training session on January 18, at Töölö Library Helsinki.

We need Educational goals in order to reach at least Distinguished Club. Do you have an additional CL, ALB or ALS that you can reach by June 30? Please let Kirsi know about the projects to be completed.

Do you need a High Performance Leadership Project? We have ordered some Manuals for our members. If you miss the project, please contact me, I have several opportunities for a HPL projects in District Conference Proposal and District Conference organization.

Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests: Juha Oravala represented Northern Stars at Area and Division level competitions and will be representing us also in Vilnius at District Conference.

International Speech Contest and Evaluation Contest will start at Area level in March and at Division level in April. Dates and venues to be announced. The goal is to assign the club representative among the volunteers. In the case that we’ll have more than one volunteering contestant for a contest we’ll have the club contest. Please inform Kirsi by the end of January about your intention to compete.
