With a full room of members and many guests, and a packed agenda, Helen in her capacity as Presiding Officer, kickstarted a fun evening.
Our first speech was delivered by Jia, who took us on a journey of island discovery, from Thailand to Europe, with scientific data cloaked in beautiful imagery. Her speech was eloquently evaluated by Christine.
Jacquie, the second speaker, took us on an evolutionary journey to another set of islands, the Galapagos, sharing with us the abstract concept of evolution as seen through the experiences of Charles Darwin. This speech was carefully evaluated by Ginny.
The final speech, by Krista, was a folk tale that brought out the child in all of us, as we listened eagerly to her tale. The take home messages were "don't meddle where you shouldn't" and "never trust a lady with a swishing tail"! This speech was skillfully evaluated by Jenny.
Helen and Christine then delivered a session explaining various aspects of the upcoming club contest (on Tuesday 11 October), giving members insights to facilitate their involvement in the contest, in a number of important roles, including being a spectator.
The Table Topics session was led by Andrew, who invited speakers to present their view of certain sayings taken from films. From Helen's vivid description of her sons' excitement for Halloween, to Christian hoping for a certain women to enter his life, or our guest Richard looking into crystal spheres for answers that never appear, and Russell "looking at kids" (the goat variety), we were definitely entertained!
Winners - well, we're all winners for being present, but ribbon winner:
Table Topics - Helen

Kind regards,
Carina, TME
