26 March Meeting

We had another wonderful meeting at Word Weavers last night.  Martin filled as Toastmaster of the evening since an injury sidelined Regina (we hope that she recovers soon).  We were graced with visitors from two other clubs, Mirja visited us from Famous as well as Klaus-Ulrich from Rhetorik.  There was lots of fun and laughing as usual, even though our speeches were more serious.

Ingo started us off with a laugh and somehow I think that we don’t want to play poker with him.  Andrea choose “to impart” as our word of the day, and it was used very often.  Mirja was our Table Topic Master, choosing a travel theme and Klaus-Ulrich was the Table Topic Reviewer, he had lots of useful tips for everyone.  Ingo, Patrizia, and Joanne were all evaluators of the prepared speeches.  Joanne was our Grammarian, Gilbert was our Ah Counter, and Gustavo server as our Timer (congratulations on his first time in this role). Pia was our General Evaluator.

Klaus-Ulrich’s speech was Project# 2 from the Specialty Speeches Manual, where he told us about his special sports watch.  He told us how we should all make the most of our time and how we can do it.  Carsten’s speech was Project# 9 from the Competent Communication Manual, where he spoke about the dangers of using the internet and data privacy.  Bryan’s speech was Project# 10 from the Competent Communication Manual, where he told us how he was challenged by a recent trip that he made to Berlin.  I did the introduction speech for my High Performance Leadership (HPL), which was called Out of the Stone Age.  The purpose of this speech was to introduce the club to the HPL, share my vision and mission, and to encourage the club to become in my HPL.  I’ll be providing more information later on my project, in the very near future.

Having visitors from two other clubs helped to make this a memorable evening.  It also goes to show how much fun it can be visiting other clubs.

March is ending with a bang and we have a lot of things coming up in April.

-March 29th is the F3/F4 Area Contest at Alt Wiesbaden

-April 2nd is the Power of Ideas workshop being put on by Andrea

-April 5th is the Division F Spring Contest in Mannheim

-April 9th is our first ever “Grab Bag” meeting, all roles will be picked at the meeting, so be prepared to take on any role and dust off a speech that you’ve been working on as you might be chosen to give it

-April 23rd is our 2nd meeting of April

-April 30th will be a joint Open House with Rhetorik of Wiesbaden.  This meeting will be done in English and German and should be a good opportunity for people to be introduced to Toastmasters

-May 21st will be the Word Weaver annual BBQ (Norbert confirmed the date with the location)

We hope to see you at some or all of our upcoming events!
