Word of the Day nefarious
Warm greetings from the Bossuet Gaveliers Toastmasters Club executive committee for 2023-24, at your disposal also via bgtmclub@gmail.com:

President - Adam LANGHAM
Immediate Past President and Vice-President for Education - Dirk STOCKMANS
Vice-President for Membership - Nancy JANS
Vice-President for Public Relations - Marina TATARAM
Secretary - Anna JORNA
Treasurer - David LEWIS
Sergeant-at-Arms - Sylviane DESCOTTE
IT Support - Marina TATARAM

The toast, aptly delivered by Toastmaster Jans against the background of yesterday being the day of nothing, honoured the celebration of life with friends and a glass of fine wine, in all its admirable simplicity.

The table topics centred on fantasizing about winning three very generous lotteries and even choosing among two or any proposed prizes. Toastmaster Stijns was the luckiest; as area director, he had the privilege of choosing any work of art from any museum - and he picked Rodin's Penseur for company. Toastmaster Lewis justified his choice for a castle on the west shore of Scotland rather than a private island in the Carribbean, whereas Toastmaster Tataram picked a yacht over a private jet, both fully staffed, for a one-ear voyage around the world and getting in touch with her maritime first name.

Dirk Stockmans evaluated the educational session.

In addition to the programme below, we had a debate exercise in preparation of the Toastmaster Leadership Institute session to be held at the Luxembourg City Youth Hostel on 27 January 2018.

Below the rules for the debate this evening. The debate host was Andrei Costica. The two teams were the following, and lots were drawn to establish which side each team would take:

·         BG: Marina, Szymon and Gerard

·         EIB: Andreas, Tomo, Sînziana (will substitute Marta who unfortunately could not attend the BG meeting this evening).

The subject of the debate was the following: "School uniforms should be mandatory". We imagined that the motion was up for vote in Luxembourg – to make things more interesting.

Structure of the debate:
